The Boxmasters Christmas in California

Raining on Christmas Day

In southern California, the fire bell always rings
Around these parts, the firemen are looked upon as kings
Even in December, the devil wing still sings
We listen every night to see what Santa Ana brings

We keep the cars all packed up with our essential gear
In case we have to run when danger is near
We know all the hotels where the coast is clear
They turn all the lights on when the flames appear

But this year, there's not a single spot to be found
The sky is crying, soaking the ground
It makes such a beautiful sound

It's raining on Christmas day
We're making a mud man out of clay
It's raining on Christmas day

The oil's rising up, so watch your sleigh
Out on the freeway
It's snowing in Minnesota
And freezing in Portland, Maine
But in California, at least we got some rain
We got some rain

Here in every county, the mountains are all brown
That's the price you pay to be near Tinseltown
We spend the year clearing brush so houses don't burn down
When old Santa Ana comes and we're in our dress and gown

But this year, there's not a single spot to be found
The sky is crying, soaking the ground
It makes such a beautiful sound

It's raining on Christmas day
We're making a mud man out of clay
It's raining on Christmas day

The oil's rising up, so watch your sleigh
Out on the freeway
It's snowing in Minnesota
And freezing in Portland, Maine
But in California, at least we got some rain
We got some rain

Raining on Christmas day
Raining on Christmas day
Raining on Christmas day
Raining on Christmas day
Raining on Christmas day
Raining on Christmas day
